Natural Food Co-ops

Natural Food Co-ops in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota, offer classes on natural foods, customer service desks with a wealth of knowledge, and, of course, wonderful food to study and eat. The following natural foods stores also provide significant financial support to Midwest Food Connection. We thank them for their support of our programs.

Organizations teaching kids about growing and eating healthy food

These organizations also partner with Midwest Food Connection in teaching children about farming, growing, and eating healthy food.

  • The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers classes on-site and visits schools with its plant-mobile.
  • The Mill City Museum hosts field trips and sends history players into schools.
  • Field trips to Gale Woods Farm, in Minnetrista, Minnesota allow children to experience sustainable farming and grass-based animal husbandry.
  • Eco-Education brings hands-on programming in environmental stewardship into schools.
  • In the summer, Youth Farm offers day camps for young people to learn about food and farming.
  • The Land Stewardship Project, with offices in different regions of Minnesota, is a rich source of information on local sustainable farming, community supported agriculture, and advocacy issues.

Many of the photos on our website were taken by local photographers Chris Bohnhoff and Kari Goodnough.

What Kids Say

Thank you, Mr. Koester, for coming to our class. And now I know about rye, corn, millet and the other things you taught us.
