As a long-time co-op staffer, dedicated healthy eater, and grandmother of kids in the Minneapolis school system, I have long appreciated the work that Midwest Food Connection does to educate the next generation. Their hands-on approach inspires kids, opens them up to new culinary experiences and gets them excited about good food.

Board Member and Program Administrator

I have been involved with MFC for more than 20 years as a board member and administrator.  I am devoted to our mission of illuminating students and their families about the wonders of healthy eating. My primary interests outside of MFC are water walks, tending the George Floyd memorial, caring for my mom, gardening, and being an excellent husband.

Kenna-Camara Cottman


Kenna-Camara Cottman is a cultural artist repping North Minneapolis and Black Dance. Kenna learned about MFC as a teacher, participating in lessons with children about Native foods in Mni Sota. Kenna is Black, Non-binary, Abolitionist and a Mother.

Claudine Altunbilek

Education Assistant, Nova Academy 

I have been a board member for MFC for almost 10 years.  I have observed (and assisted in) the lessons that we teach students and witnessed the connections our educators make with students. I believe that the nutritional choices we make are paramount to our overall health and wellbeing which is why I continue to commit my time and energy to this amazing organization.  I am also a tribal member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, which has tribal lands in North Dakota. My personal interests are gardening, reading, environmental issues, and biking.

3rd Grade Teacher, Pratt Community School

I am originally from Lincoln, NE and completed my undergraduate education in the Kansas City area. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Education at Augsburg University in Minneapolis.  I’m entering my 4th year teaching 3rd grade in Minneapolis.  I have called the beautiful city of Minneapolis home for about 10 years. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and exploring the Twin Cities.  I live in north Minneapolis with my husband.

Ashley Greywitt (She/Her/Hers)


Marketing Brand Manager, Valley Natural Foods

Ashley’s background started in food science because of her passion for food, and grew into a passion for helping people understand ingredients that nourish their bodies and provide them with tools to sustain a healthy lifestyle.  Ashley is especially enthusiastic about providing children with opportunities to learn about quality food, nutrition, and where food comes from. She is proud to be a part of the Board of Directors of Midwest Food Connection, an organization who fosters this education at an early age across diverse backgrounds. After establishing her career in food science and product development, she quickly found her passion for marketing in the food world. Ashley also enjoys reading, baking, hiking and is a novice of meditation. 

Tom Vogel (He/Him/His)


Marketing Programs Senior Manager, National Co-op Grocers

Tom has been on the MFC board for several years and has spent many more in cooperative service. Prior to joining NCG, he was the Marketing Brand Manager at Valley Natural Foods in Burnsville, Minn., and, before that, he spent 10 years as the Marketing Manager at Seward Co-op in Minneapolis. Tom has worked as a journalist, a freelance writer and taught writing and literature at the University of Minnesota. He currently lives outside of St. Paul
with his wife, 14-year-old daughter and a beagle.

Mais Mos Yang (She/her/hers)

Community Engagement Specialist, Seward Co-op 

Maiv Mos is new to the board, and excited to further support MFC’s vision in bridging food education to youths. Raised in Saint Paul and lives in Minneapolis, MN, Maiv Mos has experience in experiential education for under-represented populations, farm-to-school programs for youth, and community engagement outreach in the Twin Cities. Maiv Mos is devoted to living and working in food justice and environmental sustainability.
